"Our Bodies Imprint - Nature, Art and Humanity"

Writer: Shelagh SwansonShelagh Swanson

I'm creating an installation at Haddo Country Park as part of this years Haddo Arts Festival. "Our Bodies' Imprint - An Exploration of the impact of humanity on the landscape and the landscape on our humanity" will see 10 works by current and former students of Gray's School of Art across the park, mainly created by objects found on site. Ideas are currently being developed, however following on from my recent community involved projects I plan to create an interactive work, which again will engage the public in the making of the installation. The work will be on display for the whole month of October.

I'm really excited about my involvement in this project, as it allows me to re - explore the mode of working which I practised when I first graduated from Gray's. My degree show featured a mixture of construction and assemblage (using found objects); I went on to create a trail of site specific installations across Caithness as part of my 2006 Residency at North Lands Creative Glass and Lyth Arts Centre (a few of the works are pictured below) Many thanks for the organisers of the festival for recognising this past style and inviting me to contribute.
