Through the Lens

Writer: Shelagh SwansonShelagh Swanson

As I mentioned on my previous post , I'm currently doing a commission for Vattenfall UK, the company behind the Aberdeen Offshore Windfarm! In collaboration with the local community, I'm creating a series of works, to mark the installation, and which eventually will adorn the walls of "Unit 6," Vattenfall's Aberdeen Base. I've been busy collecting imagery by doing arts and crafts at community events, and the Family Glass Fusing Days are coming up at my studio this weekend, but now I would like to cast the net even further! Vattenfall recently went through a visual rebranding, and the new brand features a lens. I would like *you* to respond artistically to the theme "Through the Lens" and create work in some way inspired by the Aberdeen Offshore Windfarm. Work can be in any medium, painting, photography, sculpture, but must be submitted digitally - ie, your entry will be a photograph of your work. All the images will be used in a digital collage, which will be on permanent display in the offices; you'll also be invited to a special community event to celebrate the installation and 3 people will be given a free Glass Fusing session at my studio, to make a glass version of their entry, which will be theirs to keep! Enter by posting your image to this page, or by emailing it to info@shelaghswanson.com. Closing date for entries is Sunday 26th August. ** Here's my piece, taken at Balmedie during the Windfarm Installation, taken through a lens! (literal much!?!) I can't wait to see what you come up with! X

** the deadline has now been extended until 5pm on Wednesday 5th September!
